Research
The Functional Neuroplasticity Lab aims to elucidate the underlying mechanisms of neuroplastic changes in the visual cortex observed in typically developed brains as well as in cases of abnormal development, which may occur due to changes in sensory input (e.g., sensory deprivation) or brain injury. We employ a combination of behavioral and functional neuroimaging techniques to enhance our understanding of the perceptual and neural correlates of neuroplastic changes in the brain.
We are also interested in investigating how the brain processes fundamental visual features such as contrast and motion.
Current projects include:
– Behavioral and functional correlates of topographic reorganization in the primary visual cortex
– Behavioral and neural correlates of visual dysfunction in Cerebral Visual Impairment (CVI)
– The effect of preterm birth on visual functioning
– Visual information processing in schizophrenia
