Principal Investigator
Zahide Pamir, PhD
Zahide Pamir is an assistant professor in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience Graduate Program at Bilkent University. She completed her doctorate studies in Neuroscience at Bilkent University. Dr. Pamir received her BA degree in Psychology from Bilkent University and her MS degree in Cognitive Science from the Middle East Technical University. Before joining Bilkent, she worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Schepens Eye Research Institute of Mass Eye and Ear, Harvard Medical School.

Graduate Students
Berk Yüce
Berk is a Neuroscience MSc. student at Bilkent University. He completed his undergraduate studies in Psychology. His research centers around topographical reorganization of the visual system, utilizing psychophysics and fMRI methodologies to explore the underlying mechanism of functional plasticity. He aspires to contribute to developing neuroscience-inspired AI systems in the future, aiming to cultivate a deeper understanding of intelligence systems.

Alara Akcan
Alara has completed her bachelor’s degree in psychology at Middle East Technical University and is now pursuing a Master’s in Neuroscience at Bilkent University. Her research interests revolve around cortical reorganization after transient visual deprivation. After completing her degree, she aims to pursue a Ph.D. in neuroscience and extend her studies further in the field of neuroplasticity.

Hilal Çimen
Hilal received her bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in biology from METU. She’s continuing her education as a MSc. Neuroscience student at Bilkent University. Currently, she’s interested in visuo-spatial perception and neuroplasticity. In the future, she would like to receive a Ph.D. in neuroscience and pursue a career in academia.

Eda Gül Karaca
Eda is currently a Neuroscience Ph.D. student at Bilkent University. After earning her medical degree from Atatürk University Medical School, she developed a profound interest in mental disorders. Her research is primarily centered on examining visual differences in patients with schizophrenia and individuals at clinically high risk. Utilizing advanced neuroimaging techniques, she aims to uncover the potential mechanisms underlying these disease states. Eda’s ultimate goal is to enhance the understanding of the mechanisms of psychosis, paving the way for innovative diagnostic techniques and interventions.

Tutku Karahan
Tutku graduated from the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department of Bilkent University. She is currently a Neuroscience MSc. student at Bilkent University who is interested in exploring and getting inspiration from the nervous system and creating sensory modalities artificially by combining the neural basis with signal processing and electronic circuit design. She is aiming to work on retinal implants, cortical prostheses as a future step.

Nisanur Bilgiç
Nisanur was born on April 1, 1999, in Istanbul. She completed her primary and secondary education in Ankara. She started studying psychology at Başkent University in 2018 and is currently doing her master’s degree at Bilkent University. She is working on sensation and perception during her master’s degree. In the future, she plans to study language, cognition and AI.
Undergraduate Students
Bahar Canbolat
Bahar is a 4th year undergraduate student expected to graduate in 2024. She is interested in cross-modal reassignment and brain-computer interfaces and wishes to pursue a MSc in neuroscience after graduation.
Nilsu Sağlam
Deniz Kurt
Deniz is a 3rd year Psychology undergraduate at Bilkent University. His main area of interest is Cognitive and Computational Neuroscience. He aspires to research applications of machine learning in understanding cognitive functions and computational modeling.
